More About: Provence Fall Tour

Why did you decide to base your Pitcher and Powell tour near Aix-en-Provence? I chose Château St. Pierre de Mejans because I fell in love with it the first time I visited. The Château is located near Lourmarin in Provence’s southern Luberon. The 12th-century Château, which we called home during the retreat, and the property have striking beauty and history.

How did you create a week-long itinerary in Provence that fits the Pitcher and Powell “culinary adventure” theme? I designed the program with active foodies in mind and the ability to share “My Provence” with the group. Our adventure includes cooking classes, a truffle hunt, wine tastings, yoga classes, a sound massage, and an apéro dînatoire. And there’s more! The group will try a perfume workshop, hike in the Cedar Forest near Bonnieux, and tour a goat cheese farm.

What are the cultural highlights of the Pitcher and Powell experience? Visiting Les Baux de Provence and the show at the Carrieres de Lumieres. Discovering Château Saint-Pierre de Mejans’s history and winemaking tradition. Shopping at the popular Cucuron and Lourmarin markets.

In your opinion, what are the culinary highlights of the Pitcher and Powell experience?
Chef Jags delights our senses with cooking classes, plus fun hands-on dinners and lunches at the Château. Entertaining and informative excursions for truffle hunting and to the goat cheese farm. Our group in 2024 enjoyed a lunch at Château La Coste, Les Baux de Provence, and a dinner at Le Préau in Rognes.

What makes a Pitcher and Powell trip unique? Many of the arranged activities aren’t those you can plan yourself. The programs came together after many years of living in Provence part-time and establishing relationships with numerous vendors and locals. I honestly shared “My Provence” with the group of visitors.

Lynn from Los Angeles praises the attention to detail, from wine tastings to cooking workshops. At the same time, Christy from Santa Monica celebrates the itinerary as “a perfect mix of adventure and tranquillity,” filled with laughter and new friendships.
