Learn About House Sitting in Provence

Experience Provence as a Housesitter

Recently I was fortunate enough to be invited to stay as a housesitter in a home of expats who had arrived in France some years ago. They now live in a delightful village in the Var, Haute Provence. The owners needed to return to the UK for a family function and needed someone to care for their dogs at home in France. They prefer that the dogs are cared for at home. No problem I said! My bag was packed before you could say ‘apéro’!

…Continue reading here to learn about the many reasons travellers and homeowners choose HouseSit Match as an option for affordable accommodation and peace of mind.

The benefits for homeowners include the fact that you know your home will be occupied and the risk of break-in much reduced. If you have pets, having someone stay in your home is easier and less stressful for your animals.

For travellers, housesitting provides a “home base” that is affordable and allows you to “live like a local” without the expense of homeownership or paying for hotels. This is a chance to explore the local markets, have a drink in the village café, play some pétanque (boules) and then head back to your temporary home.  Want to visit Provence on a budget? Consider house sitting as a money-saving option.

Ashley Tinker

Ashley was born and raised in Montréal, Canada. She has always been drawn to the history, way of life and beauty of Europe. Her feelings for Europe were reconfirmed while studying art in Florence, Italy. Ashley says that stone buildings, colourful shutters and terra cotta tile rooftops fill her dreams and now her days.

Ashley moved to Provence in 2014 with her partner Robin (he also shares her Francophile passions). They are in search of the French joie de vivre, which they find at every turn in the local markets and natural beauty of Provence. This couple are indulging in local olives and wine as the Provencal sunshine changes craggy rocks into things of beauty.
