Description

Le Prieuré La Madelène is a former 12th-century Benedictine priory nestled in Malaucène at the foot of Mont Ventoux. This Bed and Breakfast has five (5) guest bedrooms, and a private cottage (gîte) is just a few minutes from Vaison La Romaine. If you are looking for pure Provencal relaxation, Le Prieuré La Madelène is a charming, intimate guest house ideally located for exploring Provence and the Rhône Valley.

The Property:

Hidden from view behind large umbrella pines, the Priory reveals its charms: a courtyard, a plane tree, the fountain and the swimming pool all frame the countryside vistas. Once the property of the writer Marie Cardinal, this 12th-century Benedictine building is steeped in history. Agricultural lands surround le Prieuré La Madelène with cherry and apricot orchards, olive trees, and the southern Rhône valley’s famous vineyards.

Whether your visit to Provence is for exploring the region, pure relaxation or a seminar, this bed and breakfast is an excellent choice. You are undoubtedly in Provence when you stay at Le Prieuré La Madelène.

While you decide on your itinerary for the day, you can enjoy a delicious breakfast at Le Prieuré La Madelène, served on the terrace under the leafy canopy of plane trees or in the cozy salon if the weather is unseasonable. As demand permits, they offer charcuterie boards with local cheese and cold cuts on Friday evenings.

What their guests say:

I discovered this gem of a Bed and Breakfast (Chambres d’hôte) after initially booking a hotel for myself and my clients. The hotel I had booked made an error in our reservation just before the profusion of French holidays in May. Hurriedly calling over a dozen accommodations in the area, I was referred to Le Prieuré. After speaking with a kind, English-speaking gentleman who informed me he would have enough space for my small group tour, I crossed my fingers, booked our stay, and hoped for the best. ~ Sue Aran, French Country Adventures
