I will be in Provence for the last week of May this year and I am very keen to visit some markets particularly those that have homewares stalls as well as food. i will be staying in Avignon as I will be relying on public transport – could you advise me on the most appropriate market? Thank you
Hello Janine: I will send you an email shortly on markets near to Avignon.
Hi Janine,
I’m sure that Carolyne will also send you an email, but my advice would be to visit the market at St Remy. Getting around with public transport will be tricky. It depends on the home wares you’re interested in. The Wednesday market at St Remy has many cute stands with shabby chic type French ornaments. The town itself would be useful for you to visit as there are many home decorating stores.
If you’re looking for antiques and you’re only in the area for a week, I would suggest visiting the Sunday market at Isle sur la Sorgue and the many home decorating stores and warehouses full of upmarket French antiques. Hope this helps!
Thanks Ashley, I agree Isle sur la Sorgue is definitely worth a visit. We always love St Remy, and of course les Halles in Avignon.
