Looking for a French Immersion Holiday in Provence? S.L Immersion is the Answer

Carolyne Kauser-Abbott · Inspire · Learning French

Dreaming of a trip that goes beyond sightseeing and lets you live French in Provence? If you want more than snapshots—like real conversation or lasting language skills—try a home-stay French immersion with S.L Immersion in Provence, where every day is part adventure, part learning.

We interviewed Celtina Masardo, founder of S.L. Immersion in Avignon, about her company, which offers immersive French learning across France. In this interview, Celtina described how her approach centers on real-life experiences to improve language skills. Below are her responses to specific questions about French Immersion holidays in Provence.

What is S.L. Immersion?

S.L. Immersion is not just a language school; it is an invitation to step into French life itself. By living with your teacher, you pick up the language naturally—chatting over breakfast, joining in local festivities, and weaving French into every moment. Fluency and cultural insight grow organically, shaped by real experiences.

Each program is crafted to fit your unique goals and learning style. S.L. Immersion nurtures both your confidence and your language skills, sparking genuine connections and preparing you to speak French with ease in daily life. The focus is on real-world engagement, so you leave with practical skills and a fluency that feels natural, not rehearsed.

French Language Immersion in France

Roots in Provence

In the beginning (2012), the network was called SL Provence, as everything started here, where I live. It all began in my own home, where I personally welcomed students and shared with them not only the French language but also everyday life in France.

Over time, demand for immersion programs in Provence grew, so I gradually expanded to meet demand. I began partnering with trusted, passionate teachers recommended to me, all focused on teaching, cultural exchange, and immersive experiences.

This growth enabled us to build a network of dedicated, highly qualified teachers across France, while staying true to our original vision: offering an authentic, immersive, and human way to learn French. Now expanded across France and into Canada, we maintain strong connections with a trusted network of teachers. This ensures every program reflects our values, rooted in local culture, personal connection, and meaningful experiences.

An Immersion Day

A typical day in the week-long immersion is natural, enjoyable, and fully integrated into French life. It starts with breakfast with your teacher, where guided conversation builds confidence from the start.

After breakfast, French lessons take place at the teacher’s home or outdoors, as you prefer. Lessons are interactive, personalized, and based on real-life situations. Lunch with your teacher offers relaxed, guided practice.

Afternoons are yours to shape: wander on your own, soak up the local scene, or join your teacher for lively market visits, village strolls, or cultural adventures. Every experience becomes a chance to practice French naturally.

Dinner with your teacher ends the day with relaxed exchanges that reinforce your learning in an authentic setting.

Immersion in Provence

Are there Provence-specific cultural activities, like wine tastings or market visits, that you include to practice French conversationally?

In Provence, learning French awakens all your senses. S.L. Immersion programs unfold in places like Aix-en-Provence, Vaison-la-Romaine, Fayence, Avignon, and Belvédère—each with its own charm, traditions, and way of life.

Every program is shaped around your interests and dreams. You might wander bustling markets, explore ancient villages, visit museums, or set out on nature hikes and bike rides—each activity chosen just for you. We offer immersive experiences, such as wine tastings or cooking classes, always optional and tailored to preferences. During teacher-led activities, students practice French with guided conversations in natural, relevant settings.

Some experiences are included, others are premium, but the heart of our program is flexibility and personalization. Every moment is an opportunity to speak French while truly living the spirit of Provence.
