Gourmet Tour of Provence Meet the Locals and Delight Your Palate
My Goût et Voyage travel itineraries strike the right balance between sightseeing, gourmet experiences and relaxation. Each gourmet tour of Provence’s includes many highlights yet allows flexibility for spontaneous exploration. Working exclusively with trusted local partners, these small group tours focus on culture and cuisine, including cooking classes, wine tastings, and Provence’s famous markets. The annual Goût et Voyage trips in Provence run in early June when the weather is pleasant, and the crowds have not arrived for their summer holidays. While the lavender may not be flowering, there is a good chance you will see fields of red poppies. Here are a few local guides, chauffeurs and chefs I work with in Provence.
Trusted Driver
Christophe, our amiable driver, winds us through the scenic roads of the Luberon and Les Alpilles. With his wealth of knowledge about the region’s history, hidden gems, and insider tips, Christophe transforms the journey into an educational and entertaining experience.
Let’s Walk
Julien, a passionate local foodie and historian, leads us through the streets of Avignon, making multiple stops to savour local specialties and meet the artisans. As we taste our way through the back streets and the vibrant market, Julien narrates tales of the region’s past, pointing out architectural wonders and sharing anecdotes that breathe life into the city. His enthusiasm for the area’s rich heritage creates an unforgettable walking and tasting experience.
Wine Expert
A visit to Provence would be incomplete without indulging in the region’s renowned wines. Enter Romain, our affable winery tour guide, who takes us through vineyards and cellars, explaining the intricate art of winemaking. From the velvety reds of Châteauneuf-du-Pape to the rosés of Luberon, each sip tells a story of the sun-drenched terroir. Romain introduces us to vintners whose passion for oenology is contagious.
Cooking from the Market
Chef Gilles invites our eager culinary enthusiasts into his charming kitchen for a hands-on experience that promises to unveil the secrets of traditional Provençal cuisine. The air is filled with the heady aroma of fresh herbs, and the rustic charm of the kitchen sets the perfect stage for a memorable cooking adventure. The atmosphere is relaxed and convivial, immediately putting us at ease.
