Wine tasting at Domaine la Bouïssière and a Visit to Gigondas

Sablet is located between Séguret, a village classified as a “Plus Beaux Village de France,” to the north and Gigondas, a small town renowned for its red wine to the south. From the road, Gigondas seems little more than a cluster of stone houses set on a hillside with a church below the Dentelles de Montmirail Mountains overlooking vineyard-covered slopes and valley below.

Continue reading here to learn about how Michel and Shirley first encountered the wines Domaine la Bouïssière. This vineyard is family run and produces decent well-blended vintages. Then, discover the history of Gigondas and the village today via Michel’s photos.

More about Gigondas

Gigondas wines are similar to those of its famous neighbour, Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Many of the wines are red, and Grenache grapes feature in many blends. The wines of both these villages have achieved cru status, the highest rank of the Rhône classification system. But while the wines may be similar, the prices are not, with Gigondas being much more affordable.
