About Tessa Baker

Born in London, Tessa lived with her parents and four sisters in the English countryside village of Rousham. Her creative education includes Chelsea School of Art and later at Slade School of Fine Arts. Tessa’s artistic interests sparked working with her mother on theatre set designs. However, her father determined she needed a practical profession and sent her to train as a chef in Switzerland. Both educational paths have served her well. Tessa has painted for over 30 years and has proven culinary talents.

Who are her artistic influencers? Hoffman, Matisse, Pollock, Rodin, Rothko, Riley, Van Gogh and Monet all form part of her creative inspiration.

Tessa Baker describes her painting trips with students like this, “We go to so many beautiful places to paint, we eat fantastic food, and we are together every day all day. We have all made such good friends during the trips each time; it is hard to say goodbye.”
