Henri Cartier-Bresson Photography Show at Les Baux de Provence

The Musée Yves Brayer at Les Baux-de-Provence is hosting an exhibition of photography by Henri Cartier-Bresson, a friend of Brayer in Paris.

Cartier-Bresson, from a well-to-do family in Seine-et-Marne, was given a Kodak Brownie as a child, which began his love for photography.

This photo exhibit that runs until September 28, 2017. While you are visiting Les Baux, do visit the Carrieres des Lumieres for this year’s show Bosch, Brueghel, Arcimboldo (until January 7, 2018).

Les Baux de Provence

Fortifications have long existed in the Alpilles because the cliffs and rocky outcroppings made for perfect defensive positions. Plus, the high places make it easy to spot signs of danger. Unfortunately, these fortifications were built of wood or earth for much of human history, so little or no trace remains today. But in the 10th century, what we now call chateaux were made of stone.
