Discover Gastronomic Delights and Cultural Treasures of Provence with Goût et Voyage
If you love holidays that involve learning about a region’s history and culture while sampling gourmet food and wine, you must book a Goût et Voyage tour in Provence!
Martine Bertin-Peterson is the founder of the travel company Goût et Voyage. She is an avid traveller specializing in small group tours featuring culture and gourmet delights. The Goût et Voyage “Taste of” tours occur in Provence, Umbria and, starting in 2025, Normandy. These food and wine excursions in Provence are like travelling with your best friends, as a Goût et Voyage tour never exceeds six (6) guests. Martine says her guests are “Explorers at heart who have a curious, open mind and an adventurous palate.”
Provence for Food Lovers
The annual Goût et Voyage Provence trips run in late May or early June. This is a wonderful time to travel as the weather is pleasant and the crowds have not arrived for their summer holidays. While the lavender may not be flowering, there is a good chance you will see fields of red poppies and wisteria blossoms. Martine’s culinary and wine focus means her tours include cooking classes, wine tastings, and Provence’s famous markets.
With Goût et Voyage, the travel itinerary includes the right balance of sightseeing and relaxation. The tour itineraries include the highlights of Provence yet allow flexibility for spontaneous exploration. Martine adjusts her small group tours slightly each year to ensure clients enjoy Provence in the proper doses. You will visit beautiful cities such as Aix-en-Provence, shop at market stalls with a chef, take chop and sautée in a cooking class, eat at gourmet restaurants, sample local wine, and stay in lovely accommodations.
“You will have an unforgettable trip. From tourism (“voyage”) to fine cuisine (goût), Martine offers a quality, unforgettable travel experience. She bends over backwards to meet the needs of everyone in her group.”
Knowledgable Guide
Born in France, Martine is an American Francophile who speaks five (5) languages, the first being French. With an MBA in Finance and an MA in French Literature, Martine worked in marketing and finance with Fortune 100 companies, including IBM, Dow Jones and Accenture. Martine teaches at the School of Business of The College of New Jersey. When she is not teaching, she is dreaming of culinary travel.
Martine has travelled to over 50 countries and began leading group tours over 30 years ago. With that much travel, she has experienced plenty of cancelled trains, lost luggage and flight changes. Martine tells me she discovered her first grey hair in Provence while leading a group of twenty 16-18-year-olds during their six-week stay in the region. Now, her tours are limited to small groups (maximum of six) focusing on local food and culture.
The Provence Tour Highlights
Your arrival in Provence is easy with a transfer from the Avignon TGV train station to a high-end boutique property in a charming Provencal town. The next day, after a leisurely breakfast, the group will visit L’Isle-sur-Sorgue, a city known for its water wheels, Sunday morning market, and many antique dealers. Day 3 is not to be missed as it includes the perched villages of the Luberon, including spectacular Gordes and Roussillon, with its ochre cliffs.
“Roussillon is renowned for its stunning natural beauty, particularly its unique ochre cliffs and landscapes. The vibrant hues of red, orange, and yellow create a mesmerizing backdrop that’s perfect for photography and exploration.” ~Martine Bertin-Peterson
While every day on a Goût et Voyage tour is great, spending a day in Aix-en-Provence visiting the market followed by a cooking class is a definite highlight. The next few days fly by with visits to St. Remy de Provence, Avignon, the vineyards of Châteauneuf du Pape, and the Southern Rhône Valley. This is what one guest had to say about her Goût et Voyage tour, “The trip was well curated. Personalized. Led by a deeply knowledgeable and professional organizer. The perfect sized group.”
Here is what one recent guest had to say about their Goût et Voyage trip:
“You will absolutely love any trip that you book with Goût et Voyage. Martine organizes small and cohesive groups. There is attention to every single detail. Once you begin your tour with Goût et Voyage, you will not need to be concerned about anything. Yours will be a trip of a lifetime, for sure.”
