It’s a brief transfer to the seaside town on the Mediterranean from your arrival in Montpellier to Le Grau-du-Roi. Here, you can savour the stunning sea view from your room at the Splendid Camargue Hotel, unpacking just once. Stroll along Le Grau-du-Roi’s sandy beach and immerse yourself in your first few hours in the South of France. In Le Grau-du-Roi, Ernest Hemingway spent his honeymoon with his second wife, Pauline.

After breakfast on day two, the group travels to Saint-Guilhem-le-Désert, one of France’s “Plus Beaux Villages” (the most beautiful villages). This village remains a historical stop along the renowned French Camino pilgrimage route to Santiago de Compostela. Authentic and unspoiled, the town has maintained its historic architecture, including cobblestone streets, and is home to the Abbey of Gellone, a UNESCO World Heritage site.

TripUSAClients Reviews

“This was a fantastic time, even better than we imagined! Julia had everything planned to the minute. She was on top of things so we just enjoyed the wonderful food, the sights and camaraderie. Her slogan of travel like a local is so true. We did not feel like we were tourists. We felt like we belonged because everyone was so helpful and friendly. The picnic prepared by Julia’s mom was delicious and we always had fun with Stephan, Julia’s dad, when he drove. We highly recommend this tour to anyone who wants to experience the food, the wine, the culture and the people of Provence!” ~ David W. (South of France Tour)
