Marseille Latest: Docks and Shopping News
@Choose Marseille Tourisme Guest Post · Inspire · Shopping & GiftsWandering through Les Docks Village last week, late morning, I was surprised how quiet it was. It’s been open a year now and is an imaginative conversion of a very characterful industrial building.
This 1858 dockside warehouse, is 365m long (for the days of the year), has 4 internal courtyards (for the seasons), 52 doorways (for the weeks), and seven levels (for the days of the week). This newly restored building has been converted to a mixed-use commercial and residential location. Unfortunately, even with plenty of retail stores and dining locations, Les Docks Village needs an ‘enseigne locomotive’.

The postcard depicts an enormous sardine blocking the port of Marseille. The seller, taking advantage of my ignorance and confused expression, insisted that this …
Local Painter Raphael Ponson at Musee Regards de Provence
June 9, 2016
I hadn’t heard of Raphaël Ponson before visiting the exhibition at Marseille’s Musee Regards de Provence, but I thoroughly enjoyed seeing his work from the 19th century; it gives us an insight into the region in its pre-modern tranquility. The Vieux Port is shown as being a bustling centre this exhibit at Musee Regards de …
Artisans in Provence Le Savoir Faire des Alpilles
October 9, 2019
Showcasing Alpilles Craftsmanship It could only be serendipity that Le Savoir Faire des Alpilles, a boutique showcasing the designs of local artisans, is across the street from the administrative offices of the Parc Naturel Régional des Alpilles. Both groups actively promote the beauty, traditions and natural environment of the small chain of mountains called les …
Lourmarin Shopping at Rose de Bagatelle
September 17, 2019

These invisible threads do indeed shrink my world, just like this story about the charming owner of a shop in Lourmarin, Rose de …
