Artists Inspired by Provence · Guest Post · InspireA room dedicated to Sandro Botticelli at Avignon’s Petit Palais was inaugurated in April following the Louvre’s decision to send the artist’s ‘Venus aux Trois Putti’ south to join the existing Madonna and Child. This permanent display also incorporates work from Botticelli’s pupils. The collection at the Petit Palais is astonishing in its size – 327 works from the Avignon School and from Italy, along with 600 sculptures.
This exhibition as well as the private collection at Musée Angladon. However, the best reason to visit Avignon might just be a slice of cake from La Patisserie Vernet, find out why.
