Locat’Me is Taking the Hassle Out of Apartment Hunting in Provence
Carolyne Kauser-Abbott
Launched in 2013, Locat’Me is a web-based apartment search service concept. The three founders’ vision was to solve a persistent rental market headache. The problem of landlords looking for good tenants and renters are seeking an accommodation that meets their needs and their budgets. This Internet platform matches a renters’ profile to the property offerings and requirements of landlords in a particular city.
The traditional approach to finding a rental apartment in France requires searching the listings at several real estate agencies for a suitable match. Once you have identified a potential property, then you might have to “wait in line” to even get the chance to view the unit. Assuming the apartment is just what you had in mind, and there is no one ahead of you in the queue, now is the time to produce all the prerequisite paperwork for the landlord. The Locat’Me website facilitates both the needs of the owners and those of the tenants by matching potentially suitable profiles at the start.
Paris-based Locat’Me is now available throughout France as a free service for long-term renters who are researching apartment options. Alternatively, the team at Locat’Me will provide a full-scale review and report on suitable options within the desired geography for a fee of 149€. The property listings are scrutinized by the Locat’Me team for suitability and landlords are provided guidance on rental rates.
What are the basic requirements that a landlord needs a tenant before being accepted? The requirements are exactly those practised in the traditional rental market namely the ability to meet a rate of 33% of their net monthly income. In some cases, the owners often require guarantors as well.
This invaluable service is for renters who need accommodation for three (3) months or longer; it is not a holiday rental service. As a young start-up Locat’Me has identified a need and provided the interface between supply and demand. Now, students, professionals on contracts and expat families can rest easier in their hunt for accommodation in an unknown city.
To get started set-up your profile on Locat’Me and begin your search.
