“I love meeting new people from all around the world and sharing the beauty of Provence.”

Abi Treanor’s passion for Provence is just one reason to embark on a journey with idreamprovence. In 2015, Abi and her husband, Pierre Giammalva, founded their boutique tour company in southern France. Their mission is to reveal the magic that makes Provence unforgettable. Guests can choose from immersive day trips to multi-day adventures spanning 3 to 7 days, or opt for a fully personalized itinerary.

Many of our readers are curious about intimate, small-group private tours in Provence. So, we sat down with Abi and Pierre to uncover what sets idreamprovence apart. Why are their tours a top choice for travellers? Our conversation explored everything from personalized itineraries and expert guidance to guest comfort and flexible planning. Personalized Itinerary Planning

Crafting a personalized tour is both an art and a thoughtful process. We invited Abi and Pierre to reveal how they bring each custom itinerary to life. To reflect the care and creativity invested in every journey, they charge a modest planning fee. The rate covers the time spent in meaningful client conversations and coordinating with trusted local partners.

Every idreamprovence itinerary, even for a single day, is thoughtfully tailored to each guest’s passions and preferred pace. Abi and Pierre believe in building genuine connections, often chatting by phone to understand what will make your experience unforgettable. Before your adventure begins, you’ll receive a detailed itinerary, and if inspiration strikes or plans need to shift, adjustments can be made along the way.

Abi and Pierre begin each planning journey by asking guests what they dream of experiencing in Provence. The region’s diverse landscapes inspire everything from culinary adventures and wine tastings to exploring vibrant cities and picturesque villages, and from capturing the scenery through photography to hiking. Their itineraries artfully blend must-see highlights, cultural gems, and secret corners of Provence.

For first-time visitors, we often recommend a flavourful introduction to the Luberon hills and its enchanting perched villages, with stops in Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, Avignon or Arles, Aix-en-Provence, or Marseille. Designed for a leisurely pace, these multi-day journeys allow guests to soak in every moment. Depending on the season, we suggest unforgettable experiences like wandering through lavender fields, hunting for truffles, harvesting olives, or even joining in grape stomping.

If your visit aligns with local festivals, such as the Arles photography festival, the Avignon theatre festival, or Aix-en-Provence’s summer music celebration, we’ll help you make the most of these vibrant events. Even the most carefully planned itinerary can benefit from a little flexibility. Weather changes, shifting energy, or unexpected delays are all part of the adventure.

Customized Private Tours

We asked Abi and Pierre how idreamprovence adapts tours to match each guest’s preferred activities, pace, and must-see destinations.

idreamprovence tours are designed with flexibility in mind. If guests prefer a slower pace, the day can easily shift to a scenic driving tour rather than walking. However, certain pre-booked experiences, such as truffle hunting or wine tasting, may be non-refundable if cancelled at the last minute. In addition, we gladly suggest accommodations and dining spots, and can assist with making reservations. However, we ask guests to finalize the bookings themselves.

Why Choose idreamprovence?

“I offer more than show people Provence; I translate the why behind its habits, markets, meals, and traditions. That quiet moment when a guest suddenly understands. Oh, that’s why; that’s the magic for me.” ~ Pierre Giammalva, co-founder of idreamprovence

Since 2015, Abi and Pierre have poured their hearts into sharing the wonders of Provence. They moved from the UK, and they settled near Marseille. On every idreamprovence tour, Abi’s background in art history and Pierre’s deep roots in the region shine through. While most guests are English speakers, Pierre’s bilingual skills open doors to local secrets. Even in rare quiet moments, they work hard to keep their tours fresh and authentic. Abi and Pierre spend “downtime” seeking out hidden gems, attending talks on Provence’s rich history and culture, and connecting with chefs and artisans.

Over the years, Abi and Pierre have cultivated a network of trusted local partners, from expert sommeliers to seasoned truffle hunters. They can arrange exclusive experiences such as private cooking classes, intimate wine tastings, boat excursions, and even horseback rides, ensuring every journey is truly one-of-a-kind.

“My mother and I had the pleasure of spending two days touring Provence with Abi, and I recommend her very highly! Abi’s warmth, enthusiasm, and knowledge of the region made for an amazing experience that we wouldn’t have gotten on our own. She tailored the tours to our interests to make sure we saw everything we wanted to see and more. Abi’s recommendations for food, wine, and local experiences were perfect, and she went above and beyond to make our trip special. If you’re looking for an exceptional tour guide in Provence, my mother and I highly recommend Abi.” ~ April 2025, Ciera Bramson

A Focus on Comfort

Abi and Pierre make sure every idreamprovence journey is as effortless and enjoyable as the landscapes you’ll explore. Depending on the group size, you’ll travel in a car or van; both vehicles are fully insured and air-conditioned. All the details, from pickup and drop-off to tolls and fuel, are included for a worry-free adventure.

Every tour is thoughtfully adapted to suit each guest’s mobility and activity preferences. Whether you prefer a leisurely pace or a more active itinerary, Abi and Pierre tailor the experience to your preferences. For guests with limited mobility, tours are adjusted with more driving and accessible attractions.

“We spent 2 days with Abi & Pierre touring Cassis and Marseille. Abi & Pierre were very responsive to all of my e-mail questions as I finalized my vacation. They recommended a boat tour of Cassis and reserved a private boat for us. It was a wonderful day and the highlight of our trip to France! We visited during the heat wave, and they were very attentive to our needs and adapted our days accordingly. I would highly recommend Abi & Pierre!” ~ July 2025, Alyssa Varderami
