Bring Provence Home with a Painting by Ashley Tinker

We did just that: we brought a sunflower field from Provence into our home—not literally, of course. We received a wonderful gift from some generous friends: an oil painting by Ashley Tinker titled “Tournesols, Castillon.” Every time I look at this painting, I feel as though I am taking a brief journey to the countryside near the village of Paradou in the Alpilles. While it may not compare to being there in person, it serves as a lovely mini escape and a truly thoughtful gift.

Who is Ashley Tinker

Ashley Tinker is a Canadian artist based in Mollégès, Provence. After studying fine art in Florence and Montréal, she has made Provence her home for 13 years.

Ashley and her husband, Robin, a project manager, renovated a small house in Maussane-les-Alpilles and appeared on House Hunters International.

They have since purchased a lifelong project in the lesser-known village of Mollégès. Their property includes a farmhouse and two barns dating back to the mid-1700s. Their first project was to renovate one of the barns, transforming it into a beautiful two-bedroom holiday rental, a task Robin mainly completed by himself, except for the roof. After that significant undertaking, they installed a new floor, windows, and a roof on the second barn, which Ashley now uses as her studio. Here, she welcomes collectors into her atelier/workshop, located just 10 minutes from Saint-Rémy-de-Provence.
