Insider’s Tips for French Riviera Beaches
Don’t tempt fate and leave anything of value in your car.
Make sure to take sunscreen, water, food, towels and all the toys (snorkels, fins, sand buckets, shovels, umbrellas, towels etc.) you need for your day at the beach. Some of the places mentioned above have no services.
Many Mediterranean beaches are a mix of sand and small stones; it is a good idea to bring water shoes.
Stand-up paddleboarding is quite popular, and generally speaking, the water is reasonably calm. If you do not have your own board, there are many places where you can rent the equipment (as mentioned in Laura’s post). Provence Kayak Mer is located in La Ciotat, and they offer both courses and rental options.
July and August are the busiest tourism months all along the Côte d’Azur, it is best to arrive at the beach early to get both parking and a decent spot to set-up camp.
For more beaches that are suitable for families along the French Riviera, at Le Lavandou, near Cannes and Villefranche-sur-Mer – please read this post.
