Description
Experience village life in our Bonnieux apartment. Bonheur en Bonnieux is a fully renovated 1300-square-foot, three-bedroom/two-bathroom apartment in Bonnieux’s centre. Guests especially enjoy the large, well-equipped kitchen and the adjoining covered terrace where you can relax over a meal, sip a glass of wine, and observe Bonnieux’s daily life.
The Apartment:
Full of light and colour and decorated with local art, the apartment is central, just a short walk to everything you need. Village services nearby include the bakery, the butcher shop, the weekly market (Friday mornings), the superette, excellent restaurants and cafes.
The Village and More:
Bonnieux is one of the most delightful and authentic villages in the Luberon area of Provence. With beautiful views across the valley, this village is an excellent base for exploring Provence and enjoying the good life in the French countryside.
The owners run a small group tour company and have hosted tours in Bonnieux and other parts of Europe since 2006. They spend several months a year here, so it’s their Luberon home, not just a rental. So, they have an extensive personal library of books, guidebooks, maps, and movies, and a comprehensive house book includes recommendations for enjoying the Luberon. For any questions, use the “Click Here” link below.
Ideal for:
Solo travellers, couples, two couples, small families with older children (over age 7).
Minimum stay:
Normally, one week. Saturday to Saturday most of the year. Monday to Monday in July and August. Many guests stay two weeks—or longer.

The owners will offer a $100 discount if the lower bedroom suite is excluded. They lock off the downstairs bedroom suite if you are a smaller group and want to rent only the main upstairs area of the apartment (living room, kitchen, terrace, two bedrooms, bathroom).
The rates included end-of-stay housekeeping, sheets and towels, and utilities.
In addition, they also offer a discount for extended stays of three weeks or more.

This property can have two (2) or three (3) bedrooms. We can welcome up to five guests; for smaller groups (solo traveller, one couple, a small family), we can lock off the downstairs bedroom suite and offer a discount.
There is a washing machine, but as is often the case in Provence, there is a drying rack (no dryer).
There is no cable TV, but they have a screen with a DVD player and many movies.
Plenty of public parking is available nearby.
What their guests say:
What a Gem! Kathy’s property is such a special place. She has done a wonderful job of making it feel like your own home. Plenty of books, great art, fully stocked kitchen. The downstairs is an apartment- with its own bathroom and toilet, kitchenette, and patio. Kathy was a pleasure to work with; she was super communicative and offered helpful guidance/ advice for taking full advantage of the place and the area. The upstairs patio is a lovely place to enjoy your coffee/ evening wine and watch the village. You are a 3min walk away from a bakery, which we thoroughly enjoyed as we had fresh croissants each morning. We feel lucky to have found Kathy’s fantastic apartment and are already thinking about how much we would like to return. ~ Mark from Georgia (August 2023)
Best. Rental. Ever: We’ve traveled quite a bit, and stayed in a lot of different rentals. This is the first rental where I will absolutely return, hopefully multiple times. Never in my life have I been to a more exquisite location, with a more perfect apartment. The town, the property, the view, the accommodations? Absolute perfection. It does not get better than this. It really really doesn’t. It was heaven. The owners are so responsive, and went above and beyond with our communications, so that we were all on the same page. The location itself? Feels like it’s straight out of a fairytale. The market is literally a three minute walk. If you’re a slow walker. Parking was easy and so close. You could walk around the entire town for an entire week and never get bored. It’s small. And charming. While we were there, we visited Avignon, Aix-en-Provence, Saint Remy, Arles… It’s central to everything. But out of the way, so you feel like you really are just living the French countryside dream. We drove past endless lavender and sunflower fields. And the apartment? I could live there forever if given the opportunity. Forever. I’m hoping that this wasn’t a once in a lifetime opportunity for us, but if it is? I will cherish it for the rest of my life. Thank you so much Kathy and Charley. ~ Jessica from Virginia (July 2023)
My mother and I spent a week in Kathy and Charley’s beautiful apartment and found it an enjoyable experience from our initial contact and booking through to check-out! The apartment and the town are both wonderful; this is truly a wonderful base from which to explore the Luberon and beyond.
The apartment itself is a dream – Charley and Kathy have thought of everything a traveller could want. The bedrooms are spacious and bright, with comfortable beds and linen, good storage space for clothes and personal items, and thoughtful touches like the little flashlight on the bedside table, making the middle of the night bathroom breaks a breeze! The bathroom is up a few steps, with plenty of shelf space and towels, good pressure and lots of hot water, and it also has a sweet view out over the rooftops. The living room is cozy and comfy, with a great library of books and DVDs for when you feel like reading or watching a movie (such as “A Good Year,” which we discovered was filmed just a couple of kms away!)
We spent most of our indoor time in the kitchen. We ate out most evenings, but I’ve no doubt this well-equipped kitchen could handle any meal a person might want to create. And that brings me to the terrace…a marvellous spot to relax and enjoy the sights and sounds of the streets below, and soak in the gorgeous colours of the changing sky as the sun sets across the valley.
Bonnieux is a delight – not too small, not too big – and has all the amenities we needed, including an ATM, bakery (mouth-watering treats and delicious quiches), an extensive weekly market, small supermarket, charming streets with lots of shops, and, at the top, a stunning view of the valley.
We’ve stayed in many rental apartments, and this one is a highlight that will stand out in our travel memories. I don’t hesitate to highly recommend it to anyone considering a visit to Provence! ~ Anne – Nova Scotia, Canada (April 2018)
